Ballet
Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of the French, Vagonova and Cecchetti methods as students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Pre Pointe
This secondary class is for ballet dancers in the Ballet 3 class who are preparing for Pointe. The class builds upon the student's current ballet class and introduces the specific exercises plus theraband work to build strength in the foot and ankle and insure proper alignment for progression to Pointe.
Pointe
This special style of ballet is for dancers with proper placement, strength, knowledge and experience (no younger than 13 years) who wish to learn the art of dancing in Pointe shoes.
Jazz
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Lyrical
Lyrical class is designed for intermediate to advanced students with previous training in ballet. Students will explore partnering and weight sharing exercises combined with basic techniques and skills from ballet, jazz and modern. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Students must take this class in conjunction with ballet.
Tap
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Technique
These classes are designed to take our future Competitive students in Tempo Dance Company to the next level. For those interested in auditioning for our team, students have to take 1+ years of this class before they audition!
Beginner Combo Classes (Pre-K)
Beginner classes are a combination of Tap, Jazz & Ballet. They are for the ones who have never taken a dance class before but absolutely love twirling around at theirs homes pretending to be the prima ballerina.
